In traditional upholstery, jute webbing is used primarily for supporting coil springs and as basic support for inside backs and arms including the underside of sofas and chairs. For example, jute webbing can be installed on the top of an ottoman frame.
Jute webbing which measures 2 inches (50 centimeter) wide is a Medium Quality Upholstery Webbing ideal for small items like small seats such as stools and dining chairs, and backs. This type is not recommended under springs.
A Heavy Weight Jute Webbing has a width of 3 ½ inches. It is a top-grade webbing strong enough to be utilized for all general upholstery work like seat webbing.
Jute Webbing has many patterns, sizes and colors. Examples of common color combinations are pink/black, black/red, gray/white, bright yellow/orange, and green/white, among many other shades. |

Depending on the amount of use, a new jute-webbing job can last 8 to 15 years. When installed in a furniture item that has to support a lot of weight, the jute webbing needs to be stretched tight using a webbing stretcher with its nail-like teeth providing a good grip.
For added durability, the fixing also requires a row of 5/8" or 9/16"staples or 12oz to 16oz tacks.
